Upholstery Cleaning
On-Location Upholstery Cleaning
Winkel Carpet Cleaning is IICRC-certified in upholstery cleaning and is recognized as one of the most educated and experienced upholstery care companies in the Portland area.
After a thorough inspection, our certified technicians will determine the proper cleaning procedure for your specific needs.
Our technicians utilize a ten-step method of cleaning upholstery depending on what kind of fabric is on your furniture. Our goal is to preserve the fabric along with maximizing the cleaning results. Furniture acquires different kind of soil than do floor coverings. The main kind of soil our upholstery receives is from body oils from our hair, hands, and body. These oils attract the soil from the air, and over a period of time the fabric starts looking dingy. When Winkel Carpet Cleaning cleans your upholstery, the fabric will look brighter and fresher and smell better. We highly recommend ScotchGuard™ Fine Fabric Protector by 3M to ensure your fine fabrics continue to have lasting beauty between cleanings.
From heavily soiled to light cleaning, our 10 step cleaning process is designed to restore your furniture as close to its original condition as possible. We can clean all types of upholstery, even the most delicate of fabrics like silk, satins, and brocades. Sunrise doesn’t just clean one way, our method of cleaning is dependent upon the kind of fabric is on your piece of furniture.

Our 10 Step Upholstery Cleaning Process:
Pre-Inspection
Our service technician will inspect the upholstery, noting fabric type and soiling conditions. He will also advise you of any possible permanent staining.
Pre-Vacuum
Your upholstery will be thoroughly vacuumed to remove dry soil. Removing dry soil is one of the most important steps in cleaning.
Pre-Spray & Pre-Spot
The fabric is “pre sprayed” with special cleaning compounds specially designed for your particular fabric& soil condition. This loosens up the soil to make rinsing more effective.
Pre-Agitate
The pre-spray will be worked into the fabric with a white towel or a horsehair brush, specially designed for this use.
Rinse and Extract
Once the soil has been loosened, we will thoroughly flush the fabric with our specially designed upholstery extraction tools. This step sanitizes & deodorizes fabric. Water pressure is regulated so that fabric is not over wet.
Neutralize
Every piece that we clean is pH balanced so there is no sticky residue left behind. This treatment is applied as a rinse thru the machine or is applied after rinsing depending on soil conditions.
Pre-Spot Treatment
If any spots are not removed during the cleaning process, specialty-spotting techniques are employed – we have written procedures for every situation.
Post Cleaning
If the fabric has a knap, the knap is set in one direction using a grooming brush or white towel.
Post Inspection
Piece is thoroughly inspected by technician.
3M ScotchGuard™ Protection (If Selected)
We highly recommended fabric protection of all furniture cleaned. Once all the soil and debris is removed from the fabric the protection will protect the fabric from permanent staining, make it easier for you to spot clean, as well as prevent the fabric from wearing.
